Primary election date and who can be a candidate

This section sets the date for primary elections and says who can run in the general election. It does not cover other election rules. The primary is always on the second Saturday of August in even-numbered years. Only people nominated in that primary can be candidates in the general election.

The primary shall be held on the second Saturday of August in every even numbered year. No person shall be a candidate for any general or special general election unless the person has been nominated in the immediately preceding primary or special primary.
