Remission and suspension of sentences

This section lets certain military leaders reduce or pause part of a sentence that hasn't been served yet, including unpaid fines. The governor can also change a military discharge to an administrative one for good reason. It only covers these specific actions.

The statute, as written — Remission and suspension

(a) The governor, the adjutant general, or a convening authority may remit or suspend any part or amount of the unexecuted part of any sentence, including all uncollected forfeitures. (b) The governor may, for good cause, substitute an administrative form of discharge for a discharge or dismissal executed in accordance with the sentence of a court-martial.
