Protecting newly introduced wild animals
This law protects wild animals and their young for a set time after they are first brought into Hawaii. You cannot shoot or kill them during that period, unless the animal is proven to be a common nuisance. Breaking this law is a misdemeanor.

The statute, as written — Destruction of animals ferae naturae; penalty
(a) No person shall shoot or otherwise destroy any animal ferae naturae or its progeny within ten years of the introduction of the species into the State. (b) Nothing in this section shall be construed to prohibit the destruction of animals that are proven to be common nuisances. (c) Any person who violates this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor.
