HRS §172-9
State surveys land when owners fail to mark boundaries
If landowners do not get their boundaries officially determined as required, the state comptroller will list those lands, arrange surveys, and have the boundaries legally settled. The cost of this work becomes a lien on the land, which takes priority over other claims.
