HRS §174C-48

When you need a water use permit

In designated water management areas, you must get a permit from the commission before taking, diverting, storing, or using water. You do not need a permit for personal household use or for a rainwater catchment system. Existing uses in newly designated areas can continue until the commission decides on your application.
