Counties can set bigger shoreline setbacks
Counties may pass their own rules or laws to make shoreline setback lines larger than the state minimum. They can also expand the shoreline area to include land between mean sea level and the shoreline. This section only gives counties that power.

(a) The several counties through rules adopted pursuant to chapter 91 or ordinance may require that shoreline setback lines be established at distances greater than that established in this part. (b) The several counties through rules adopted pursuant to chapter 91 or ordinance may expand the shoreline area to include the area between mean sea level and the shoreline.
