Notice to mortgage holders before selling registered land
When the state plans to sell registered land for unpaid taxes, it must mail a notice to anyone with a mortgage or other lien on that land. The notice goes to their last known address and must be sent at least 45 days before the sale.

If the land has been registered in the land court, the state tax collector shall also send by registered mail a notice of the proposed sale to any person holding a mortgage or other lien registered in the office of the assistant registrar of the land court. The notice shall be sent to any such person at the person's last address as shown by the records in the office of the registrar, and shall be deposited in the mail at least forty-five days prior to the date set for the sale.
