HRS §231-98

Cash discount price rules and fines

This law makes it illegal to charge different prices for the same business deal just because someone pays with cash. A business can charge more for a real business reason, like covering payment processing fees. Violators can be fined up to $2,000, or up to $3,000 if they are a cash-based business.
