HRS §286-235
You need a commercial driver's license to drive commercial vehicles
This law says you must have a valid commercial driver's license with the right endorsements to drive a commercial motor vehicle. You also need to carry the license with you. It is illegal to drive if your license is suspended, revoked, canceled, or if you are disqualified or under an out-of-service order.
The statute, as written — Commercial driver's license required

(b) No person shall operate a commercial motor vehicle without a commercial driver's license in such person's possession. (c) No person shall drive a commercial motor vehicle while the person's driver's license or permit is suspended, revoked, or canceled, or while subject to a disqualification. (d) No person shall drive a commercial motor vehicle in violation of an out-of-service order.
