HRS §304A-601
State higher education loans: who qualifies and how much
This section says who can get a state higher education loan and how the loan amount is set. Only University of Hawaii or community college students who have lived in Hawaii for at least a year and are at least half-time in a degree program qualify. The board of regents decides the amount based on need, academic promise, and behavior, and the total loan limit matches the federal Perkins Loan Program.
