Health department can hire disease investigators

The health department may create permanent or temporary jobs called epidemiologists to look into diseases and injuries that endanger public health. The health director can appoint people to these jobs without following the usual civil service hiring rules.

The department of health may establish permanent or temporary exempt positions known as epidemiologists for the purpose of investigating diseases and injuries which threaten the public health and safety. The positions shall be appointed by the director without regard to chapter 76.
