If one part is invalid, the rest still stands

This section says that if a court decides one part of this law is invalid, the other parts still work. It applies to people and situations only if the invalid part is not needed for them. This is a standard rule to keep the law mostly intact.

The statute, as written — Severability

If any provision in this part or the application thereof to any person or circumstance is held invalid, the invalidity shall not affect the other provisions or application of this part that can be given effect without the invalid provision or application, and to this end the provisions of this part are severable.
