How noise complaints and hearings are handled

The state's environmental director can take complaints about excessive noise, hold hearings, and go to court to stop the noise. The director can also appoint special investigators to look into noise problems and run hearings.

The director may: (1) Receive or initiate complaints of excessive noise, hold hearings in connection with excessive noise, and institute legal proceedings in the name of the State for the prevention, control, or abatement of excessive noise; and (2) Appoint a master or masters to conduct investigations and hearings.
