HRS §353-28.5
Family visits to state prisons
Family members can visit inmates at any state prison during official visiting hours, but visits must be approved and scheduled in advance. If a family has already spent a lot of money to travel for a visit, the prison cannot cancel it just because staff are absent or for a non-emergency. The prison must make rules to follow this law.
