Letting a collection agency handle overdue debts

A state agency that is owed money and has not been paid can hire a bonded collection agency to collect the debt. The agency's leader can agree with the collection agency on how much the collection agency keeps for its services.

Any state agency having an account due which is delinquent, may contract with a collection agency bonded under chapter 443B for collection of the delinquent account. The chairperson or director of the agency may make an agreement with the agency regarding the amount to be retained by it for services.
