HRS §412:9-501
When a loan company must register with the mortgage licensing system
This section says that a nondepository financial services loan company is not automatically a mortgage loan originator company. But if any of its employees or independent contractors act as mortgage loan originators, processors, or underwriters, the company must register with the Nationwide Multistate Licensing System (NMLS). Registering does not exempt those individuals from getting their own licenses.
