Foreign companies must keep a local agent
A foreign company doing business in Hawaii must always have a registered agent in the state. The agent can be a person living in Hawaii or a business entity allowed to operate there. This rule makes sure the company has a local contact.

Each foreign corporation authorized to transact business in this State must continuously maintain in this State a registered agent, who may be: (1) An individual who resides in this State; (2) A domestic entity authorized to transact business in this State; or (3) A foreign entity authorized to transact business in this State.
