Official certificates and copies count as evidence in court

This section says that official certificates and certified copies of documents from the department director are accepted in courts and government offices as basic proof of what they say. A certificate with the department's seal about whether a corporation exists is also accepted as basic proof.

The statute, as written — Certificates and certified copies to be received in evidence

All certificates issued by the department director pursuant to this chapter, and all copies of documents filed in the department director's office pursuant to this chapter when certified by the department director, shall be taken and received in all courts, public offices, and official bodies as prima facie evidence of the facts stated therein. A certificate issued by the department director under the seal of the department of commerce and consumer affairs as to the existence or nonexistence of the facts relating to corporations, shall be taken and received in all courts, public offices, and official bodies as prima facie evidence of the existence or nonexistence of the facts stated therein.
