HRS §451J-7.5

Out-of-state marriage and family therapist licenses

This section lets the state licensing director accept licenses from other states for marriage and family therapists. The director can only do this if the other state's requirements are at least as strict as Hawaii's. It is a narrow rule about recognizing out-of-state licenses.

The statute, as written — Reciprocity

The director may enter into a reciprocity agreement with another state and issue a license to a marriage and family therapist who is licensed in that state; provided that the requirements for a license in that state are deemed by the director to be at least as stringent as the current requirements for a license in this State.
