HRS §459-7.5

Licensing out-of-state optometrists with equal standards

The board must make rules to license optometrists who are already licensed in another state or territory, as long as that place's requirements are at least as strict as Hawaii's. This lets qualified out-of-state optometrists get a Hawaii license.

The statute, as written — Reciprocity

The board, by rules, shall provide for licensure of optometrists registered and licensed under the laws of any state or territory of the United States or any other jurisdiction with qualifications for licensure which equal or exceed those of this State.
