Guard license needed for part-time guard work

You must get a guard license before doing guard work as part of another job, even if guarding is not your main duty. This rule applies to anyone hired to guard while also doing other tasks.

The statute, as written — Guards; concurrent employment

No person shall engage in the business of guard when the guard work is concurrent with other duties performed under the agreement of employment or when the guard work is not the principal fact of the employment without first obtaining a license as a guard.
