What sponsors must do for their sponsored workers

A sponsor is the person or group responsible for a sponsored worker. They must decide how much supervision the worker needs, be responsible for the animal care the worker gives, tell the board in writing, and make sure the worker has the right permit.

The statute, as written — Sponsors; responsibilities

For the purposes of this chapter and rules adopted by the board, a sponsor shall be responsible for: (1) Determining the level of supervision required for the sponsored individual; (2) The veterinary care given to the animal patient by the sponsored individual; (3) Ensuring that the board has been notified in writing; and (4) Confirming that the sponsored individual has obtained the appropriate courtesy permit or relief permit from the board.
