HRS §52D-15
Off-duty police officer injury benefits
This section says that if a police officer is hurt, disabled, or killed while off duty but acting as a police officer to catch suspects, keep peace, or protect people or property, it counts as a work injury for benefits under chapters 88 and 386. This applies only if the incident happens in the officer's jurisdiction and the officer is acting only as a police officer.
