What terms mean in this law

This section defines two key words used in the law about premarital agreements. A premarital agreement is a contract between two people who plan to marry, and it takes effect when they marry. Property means any type of interest in real or personal property, including future interests and income.

The statute, as written — Definitions

As used in this chapter, unless the context otherwise requires: "Premarital agreement" means an agreement between prospective spouses made in contemplation of marriage and to be effective upon marriage. "Property" means an interest, present or future, legal or equitable, vested or contingent, in real or personal property, including income and earnings.
