How much proof is needed in civil cases

This section sets the standard of proof for civil lawsuits in this part. Unless a different rule is stated, you must show that your version of the facts is more likely true than not. This is called a preponderance of the evidence.

Except as may be otherwise expressly provided, the civil causes of action in this part shall be proved by a preponderance of the evidence.
