HRS §76-28.5
Time limits for temporary state jobs
This section sets limits on how long a state department or agency can hire the same person for the same temporary job paid with general funds. Normally, it is limited to two 89-day terms, but the governor can allow up to eight 89-day terms within 24 months. Some situations, like medical leave or investigations, are exempt, and counties are not covered.
