Lobbyists cannot give unlawful gifts

This section makes it illegal for lobbyists or anyone who must file an expense report to give a gift to a legislator or certain government employee if that gift is already banned by other rules. It also defines "employee" the same way other law does.

The statute, as written — Unlawful gifts by lobbyists

(a) It shall be unlawful for a lobbyist or any person or entity required to file a statement of expenditures under section 97-3 to make a gift to a legislator or employee that is prohibited by section 84-11 or title 21, chapter 7 of the Hawaii administrative rules. (b) For the purposes of this section, "employee" shall have the same meaning as defined in section 84-3.
