Protection for people who report suspicious activity

This section protects a qualified person who reports information in good faith and with reasonable care. If they follow the rules, they cannot be sued or penalized by the government for making the report or for not telling the commissioner about it.

The statute, as written — Immunity for governmental disclosures

A qualified person who, in good faith and exercising reasonable care, makes a disclosure of information pursuant to section 485A-802 shall be immune from administrative or civil liability that might otherwise arise from the disclosure or for any failure to notify the commissioner of the disclosure.
