Helping a criminal avoid arrest or punishment

If you are covered by this chapter and you help someone who committed a crime under it to avoid being caught, tried, or punished, you can be punished by a court-martial. This section makes it a crime to assist a known offender.

The statute, as written — Accessory after the fact

Any person subject to this chapter who, knowing that an offense punishable by this chapter has been committed, receives, comforts, or assists the offender in order to hinder or prevent the offender's apprehension, trial, or punishment shall be punished as directed by a court-martial.
