Where to file a protection petition

This section says you can file a petition for relief in any family court in the circuit where you live. The court must give your petition priority on its docket.

The statute, as written — Court jurisdiction

A petition for relief under this part may be filed in any family court in the circuit in which the petitioner resides. A petition under this part shall be given docket priority by the court.
