This section defines key words used in this part of the law. It explains what counts as agriculture, what the department is, what government means, and what industry means. It is only a definitions section, so it does not create any duties or prohibitions.

The following terms, whenever used in this part, shall have the following respective meanings, unless a different meaning clearly appears in the context: "Agriculture" and "agricultural" mean the planting, cultivating, and harvesting of crops, including those so planted, cultivated, and harvested for food, ornamental, grazing, or forest purposes. Once the crops are harvested and transported to a point of distribution, they cease to be agricultural in the terms of this part. "Department" means the department of business, economic development, and tourism. "Government" means the State, or any of its political subdivisions, agencies, and instrumentalities, corporate or otherwise. "Industry" and "industrial" mean the manufacture, processing, or assembly of raw, semimanufactured, or manufactured products, including agricultural products, but for the purposes of this part, shall not include the growing, cultivation, or harvesting of agricultural products.
