Selling or junking an abandoned vehicle

If a vehicle is left at a repair shop, the shop owner can sell it or scrap it as junk. Before doing so, the owner must run one public ad in a statewide newspaper. This section only covers that sale or disposal step.

When a vehicle is abandoned, the owner of the vehicle repair business, or the owner's authorized representative, after one public advertisement in a newspaper of general circulation in the State, may negotiate a sale of the vehicle or dispose of it as junk.
