Fines for repeat abandoned vehicle owners

If you own a vehicle that is declared abandoned or derelict, you will be fined. The fine increases for repeat violations. The third violation costs $750, and each later violation costs $1,000.

The statute, as written — Abandoned vehicles; repeat offender; penalty

A person who is the registered owner of a vehicle that was deemed abandoned or derelict pursuant to this chapter shall be subject to a fine for each vehicle as follows: (1) For the third violation, a fine of $750; and (2) For a fourth or subsequent violation, a fine of $1,000.
