Owner is responsible for a mailed ticket

If you get a ticket by mail for a red light camera violation, the law treats the ticket as proof that the violation happened. As the registered owner of the car, you are responsible for the violation, even if you were not driving.

The statute, as written — Registered owner's responsibility for a summons or citation

In any proceeding pursuant to this chapter, the information contained in the summons or citation mailed in accordance with section 291L-5 shall be deemed prima facie evidence that a violation of section 291C-108 occurred. The registered owner shall be strictly liable for a violation of section 291C-108.
