Confirming the patient's informed choice before prescribing
A doctor cannot prescribe life-ending medication unless the patient has made an informed decision. Right before writing the prescription, the doctor must check that the patient is still making that informed choice.

No qualified patient shall receive a prescription for medication to end the qualified patient's life pursuant to this chapter unless the qualified patient has made an informed decision. Immediately prior to writing a prescription under this chapter, the attending provider shall verify that the qualified patient is making an informed decision.
