HRS §332-5

Labeling requirements for mattresses made of new or shoddy materials

This law says that if a mattress is made from more than one new material, its tag must show the percentage of each material. This rule does not apply to comforters. If a mattress is made from shoddy material, the tag must clearly say 'shoddy material' in large print.

The statute, as written — Tag or stamp

Any mattress made from more than one new material shall have stamped upon the tag attached thereto the percentage of each material so used. This requirement shall not apply to comforters. Any mattress made from material known as "shoddy" shall have stamped or printed upon the tag attached thereto, in type not smaller than twenty-point, the words "shoddy material".
