Rules for entering, staying in, and leaving a psychiatric facility

This section says that no one can be admitted to, kept in, or released from a psychiatric facility unless the rules in this law and certain other chapters are followed. It sets the basic legal framework for these actions.

No person shall be admitted to, detained at, or discharged from any psychiatric facility except as provided in this chapter and in chapters 571, 704 and 706.
