HRS §346-69

A safety net program for families losing welfare

The state's Department of Human Services can start a program called Keeping Hope Alive. This program helps working families who lose public assistance because they hit the federal five-year limit. The department has the option to create it, not a requirement.

The statute, as written — Welfare safety net program; department of human services

The department of human services may create a welfare safety net program entitled "Keeping Hope Alive" to assist working families that will be disqualified from receiving further public assistance as a consequence of reaching the five-year time limit set by the federal Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity [Reconciliation] Act of 1996.
