Interstate compacts allowed

This section lets the state's department create or join interstate agreements (compacts) on behalf of Hawaii. Once made, these compacts have the same legal power as state law. It does not set any specific rules or duties.

The statute, as written — Compacts authorized

The department is authorized to develop and participate in the development of, negotiate, and enter into one or more interstate compacts on behalf of the State. A compact entered into pursuant to this chapter shall have the force and effect of law.
