Helping crime victims get compensation

This law helps people hurt by crimes or families of victims who died, by giving them money. It also helps private citizens who get hurt or have property damaged while stopping a crime or catching a criminal. The goal is to support these victims and helpers.

The statute, as written — Purpose

The purpose of this chapter is to aid victims of criminal acts, by providing compensation for victims of certain crimes or dependents of deceased victims, and for indemnification of private citizens for personal injury or property damage suffered in prevention of crime or apprehension of a criminal.
