Contracts under the Western Interstate Corrections Compact

This section lets the corrections director sign contracts for Hawaii to join the Western Interstate Corrections Compact. But those contracts only work if the governor and comptroller approve them first. It is a narrow rule about who can make and approve these agreements.

The director of corrections and rehabilitation may enter into such contracts on behalf of the State of Hawaii as may be appropriate to implement the participation of the State in the Western Interstate Corrections Compact pursuant to Article 3 thereof. No such contract shall be of any force or effect until approved by the governor and comptroller.
