Employers cannot avoid workers' compensation duties

This section says that employers cannot use contracts, rules, or other tricks to escape any responsibility they have under this workers' compensation law. The only exception is a specific situation mentioned in another part of the law. So, employers must still follow all their legal duties.

Except as provided in section 386-78, no contract, rule, regulation or device whatsoever shall operate to relieve the employer in whole or in part from any liability created by this chapter.
