Fines for breaking the law and where the money goes

If someone breaks this law and no other penalty is listed, they can be fined up to $250 per violation, but only after getting written notice and a chance to be heard. All fines collected go into a special trust fund.

The statute, as written — Penalties

(a) Any person who, after twenty-one days written notice and the opportunity to be heard by the director, is found to have violated any provision of this chapter or rule adopted thereunder for which no penalty is otherwise provided, shall be fined not more than $250 for each offense. (b) All fines collected pursuant to this chapter shall be deposited into the [premium supplementation trust fund] created by section 393-41.
