Registered agent for out-of-state corporations

An out-of-state corporation doing business in Hawaii must always have a registered agent in Hawaii. The agent must have a business address here and can be a person living in Hawaii or a business allowed to operate in Hawaii.

The statute, as written — Registered agent of foreign corporation

Each foreign corporation authorized to transact business in this State shall continuously maintain in this State a registered agent, who shall have a business address in this State and may be: (1) An individual who resides in this State; (2) A domestic entity authorized to transact business in this State; or (3) A foreign entity authorized to transact business in this State.
