This section says that general legal and fairness principles still apply to this part unless this part says otherwise. If you owe interest under this part and no rate is given, the rate from another law (section 478-2) is used.

The statute, as written — Supplemental principles of law

(a) Unless displaced by particular provisions of this part, the principles of law and equity supplement this part. (b) If an obligation to pay interest arises under this part and the rate is not specified, the rate is that specified in section 478-2.
