When a merger becomes official

A merger between businesses becomes official on the day the merger papers are filed, or on a later date you choose in those papers. That later date cannot be more than 30 days after the filing date.

A merger takes effect upon the filing date of the articles of merger, or on the date subsequent to the filing as set forth in the articles of merger; provided that the effective date shall not be more than thirty days from the filing date.
