HRS §431:10A-121

Diabetes coverage in health insurance

Most health insurance policies sold or renewed in Hawaii must cover outpatient diabetes self-management training, education, equipment, and supplies. This coverage applies only if a health care professional prescribes them and they are medically necessary. Some limited policies, like accident-only or Medicare supplement, are not included.
