Purpose of credit life and disability insurance rules

This law sets rules for credit life insurance and credit disability insurance to protect the public. It does not stop fair competition. Courts should interpret these rules broadly to carry out that purpose.

The statute, as written — Purpose

The purpose of this article is to promote the public welfare by regulating credit life insurance and credit disability insurance. Nothing in this article is intended to prohibit or discourage reasonable competition. The provisions of this article shall be liberally construed.
