Transportation network companies are not common carriers under this article

This section says that, only for this article, a transportation network company and its drivers are not treated as common carriers, contract carriers, motor carriers, taxicabs, or for-hire vehicle services. It is a narrow rule about legal classification.

The statute, as written — Relation to other laws

[See Note at part heading.] Solely for the purposes of this article, neither a transportation network company nor a transportation network company driver shall be deemed to be a common carrier by motor vehicle, a contract carrier by motor vehicle, a motor carrier as defined in section 271-4, a taxicab, or a for-hire vehicle service.
