Bulk insurance sales to employees allowed

An insurance company can sell car, home, and other property insurance in bulk to a group of employees if the employer agrees and the state insurance commissioner checks the plan. An employer can make a deal with one or more insurance companies for this kind of group insurance.

The statute, as written — Mass merchandising authorized

An insurer may mass merchandise motor vehicle, property and casualty insurance to the employees of any employer under a mass merchandising plan audited by the commissioner; provided that such mass merchandising is agreed to by the employer. An employer may contract with one or more insurers for mass merchandising of motor vehicle, property and casualty insurance to its employees.
